The mission of Recreational Services at the University of Iowa is to "serve the University community through recreational activities." Within the Recreational Services Program there are potential opportunities for physical, mental, and social growth and these may be realized to varying degrees by each participant in the many competitive and/or informal recreation activities. The program is geared to develop an appreciation for the meaningfulness and importance of the use of one's leisure time. This approach is believed to assist in the total education of the individual through informal association and opportunities outside the classroom.
The Recreational Services staff seeks to provide the opportunity for participation in a wide variety of recreational activities for every student, staff, and faculty member, regardless of age, sex, race, skill level or past experience as regularly as his/her time or interests permit.
The University of Iowa Division of Recreational Services staff will continue in their efforts to provide students, faculty, and staff with a diverse and innovative offering of group and individualized recreational activities. Please do not hesitate to let us know of any activities that you feel may be of interest to our students which are not presently being offered. Every effort will be made to incorporate any new program suggestions if at all feasible.
